Her name is RIO... and she’s a 1980s vintage TAMA Imperialstar made in Japan with original serial numbered badges. When we first saw her we were inspired by the 1982 Duran Duran album Rio, whos drummer, Roger Taylor, exclusively plays TAMAs. 

The Rio album featured artwork by the popular 80s artist Patrick Nagel whos Art Deco/Pop Art style dominated the 80s art scene. We decided to pay homage to Nagels style and the album by creating original artwork mimicking his distinctive technique to showcase the female form. Each drum features a different female personality and together they make quite a kit!

This kit has all origional harware including the TAMA OMNILOC tom mount. As you can imagine on a kit from the 80s, the hardware does show signs of aging, however, all hardware is in good working order. All cymbals, stands, and pedals are brand new, and the stands and pedals are all TAMA. This kit is featuring new Paiste Color Sound 900 purple cymbals.

DRUM HEADS

All drums are two headed and feature Remo heads. All tom tom, floor tom and kick drum batter heads are Remo Emperor Colortone Purple. The resonant heads on the tom toms are the same, the kick drum resonant head is Remo Powerstroke P3 Colortone Purple. The snare features a Remo Powerstroke 77 Colortone Purple snare head and a clear Remo resonate head.
